An Air Force veteran, 24-time Ironman, and Seven Summits climber, Christian speaks worldwide on medical device security, FDA premarket and postmarket, SBOMs, the Secure Methodology, and the human side of high-IQ technical teams.
Long bio
352 words
Christian Espinosa is the founder and CEO of Blue Goat Cyber, a cybersecurity firm focused on medical device security, where he and his team have supported more than 250 FDA submissions with zero failing to clear due to cybersecurity. He previously founded and exited Alpine Security, one of the first cybersecurity firms acquired by a publicly traded company in 2020, and brings more than thirty years of experience as an information assurance analyst, penetration tester, cybersecurity engineer, trainer, and consultant.
In 2022, pain in the back of his left leg sent Christian to the ER, where doctors discovered six blood clots that should have killed him. The experience reframed everything: medical technology working safely and securely stopped being a regulatory abstraction and became the reason he founded Blue Goat Cyber later that year, dedicated specifically to medical device cybersecurity and patient safety.
Christian is the host of The Med Device Cyber Podcast, the definitive weekly podcast on medical device security, and the author of three books. The Smartest Person in the Room is the bestselling field guide to the seven-step Secure Methodology, which turns high-IQ technical contributors into leaders who can actually be heard. The In-Between: Life in the Micro is his memoir on presence, identity, and what it takes to lead from the moment in front of you instead of the next milestone. Medical Device Cybersecurity: An In-Depth Guide, his forthcoming 2026 book, is a complete working playbook on premarket submissions and postmarket surveillance, covering risk management across the Total Product Lifecycle, Secure Product Development Frameworks, STRIDE threat modeling, SBOMs and SOUP analysis, and global regulatory alignment across the FDA, EU MDR, PMDA, NMPA, and TGA.
An Air Force Academy graduate and veteran, certified Master Neurolinguistic Programmer, 24-time Ironman, and Seven Summits climber, Christian speaks worldwide on medical device security, FDA compliance, the Secure Methodology, and the human side of MedTech leadership. He has been featured on podcasts and at conferences including LSI USA, DeviceTalks West, the Global Medical Device Podcast, MedTech World, and dozens of others, and is a frequent source for journalists covering cybersecurity, healthcare technology, and high-performance leadership.

"The biggest cybersecurity risk in MedTech isn't a clever attacker. It's a great engineering team that treats security as a checkbox at the end of the project."
Global Medical Device Podcast, Greenlight Guru

"FDA isn't asking for perfect security. They're asking you to show your work, prove your process, and keep monitoring after the device ships."
Health Connective Show
-
"If you wait until premarket submission to start thinking about cybersecurity, you've already lost six months."
